‘Meet Meshelle Aucoin’
As an Indigenous woman of the Mi’kmaq Nation, I carry a deep connection to my heritage and the healing arts. My band, Ktaqamkuk, meaning “Land Across the Water” is a source of pride and inspiration for my work. I am honored to belong to the Bear clan, known for our strength, vitality, and health. In this role, I serve as both a protector and a gifted medicine person.
The Significance of the Bear Clan:
The Bear clan symbolizes resilience and the importance of health in our communities. Traditionally, our dwellings were located on the outskirts of villages, allowing us to gather medicines while offering protection. This unique perspective informs my healing practices, blending ancient wisdom with contemporary healing methods.
The Role of a Pipe Carrier:
As a Pipe Carrier, I embrace both privilege and responsibility. My pipe was crafted by an Elder, marking the beginning of my journey to lift sacred prayers during ceremonies for individuals and the community. This role allows me to connect deeply with spiritual traditions and foster healing through prayer and intention.
Discover the Healing Arts:
My approach to healing encompasses a range of practices rooted in Indigenous traditions. I invite you to explore the transformative power of these methods and how they can enrich your life. Together, we can embark on a journey of wellness, resilience, and connection to the land and each other.
